Okay, so I've been up since 3am with an upset stomach caused by worry and sadness. Sad because of things I've learned and worried that Obama will keep the following promise:

I've come to the following conclusion - I don't care what he does with the economy, the wars, healthcare - I hope he's astonishingly successful. As long as he doesn't take away the right of moral objections for doctors, nurses and hospitals, fund abortions with government (meaning taxpayer, meaning MY) money, and make partial birth abortion legal.
Also - side note - if you support FOCA please don't leave a comment telling me so. I don't want to know. All it does is make me want to keep my daughter and womb far away from you.

Would it make you feel better if you write a letter to him? You don't necessarily have to send it, but really tell him what you're worried about. Don't leave anything out. Then seal it up, address it, and leave it. Maybe you'll send it, maybe not. But hopefully it would get some of that stress off your chest. :)
Oh Bonnie! I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time. I don't really have any advice for you except to keep praying and have faith that maybe all of the other problems facing our country would be more important to the President Elect than passing that. Are you going to be around Saturday morning? We will be intown until about noon...we could have a playdate with our beautiful kids!! : ) Let me know.
Although McCain said, "The American people have spoken, and they have spoken clearly," I pray that President-elect Obama understands just what the American people have (and have not) spoken clearly. America has said Yes to Obama on the economy, the war, and healthcare. America has not said Yes to Obama on abortion.
Although America says No to overturning Roe versus Wade, America also says No to overturning the partial-birth abortion ban. America says No to overturning parental consent laws and other local restrictions on abortion. America says No to reinstating federal funding for abortions. America says No to forcing pro-life crisis pregnancy volunteers to violate their consciences or lose their modest government funding. America says No to forcing pro-lifers in the medical fields to violate their consciences or lose their jobs. America says No to forcing Catholic and Christian hospitals to violate their consciences or close their doors.
Us pro-lifers who voted against Obama need to unite now with the pro-lifers who voted for Obama, and even with moderate pro-choicers, in vocal opposition to the Freedom of Choice Act.

Bonnie, I posted this on Massiaura's blog too but I wanted to share with you too.
OK, I've been lurking around reading the dialogue between you and Laura and let me just say, I am so glad that you guys can work this out because you have been friends forever! Second, I think it's wonderful that two intelligent women can have such polar, political views and remain friends. Third, I think, no matter how the election turned out for you (you = all of you) we should all feel a sense of hope that a change is in our future.
Also, I would like to add just for you, Bonnie. I think, although we may not have the same views, that I have a huge amount of respect for you. Respect because you educated yourself before making any judgements for this election. Respect because you hold firm in your beliefs.

I think we have to believe that God is bigger and has more purpose than we can imagine. And I think of this verse often in reference to our gov't, that despite their knowing it, the Lord does direct their heart.
Another thing is how many candidates make promises that they don't complete or at all follow through on. He was speaking to a certain crowd trying to win their vote, but he hasn't signed anything yet.
I think it's important to remember that WE can do something about it by volunteering and getting know young women who might be more apt to use the law were it legal. We can help them see beauty in adoption or other options and be there for them and hopefully, eventually, there will not be a need for the law.
But I understand and although this isn't a issue that I feel as strongly or similarly about, I understand how you feel and have felt that way with other things. I think it's important to find a way to focus on God through it and leave it in his hands so you can focus on what He's asked you to do.
