Our house is really sad about Obama's win. But, Senator Obama, if you will be my president too, do this:
- do NOT make partial birth abortion legal again!
- be responsible as you pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan, being mindful that most of our current soldiers and veterans did not vote for you.
- be mindful that when you overly tax the wealthy they will make up for their losses one way or another, be it layoffs or raised prices for the rest of us.
- appoint a pro-life justice to the Supreme Court, should you get the opportunity

we can only hope he would do any of those things......and, not pass the FOCA...
we're a bit depressed here too...

I'm curious, where do you get your statement that most of the troops/veterans did not support Obama? I haven't seen any stats on that.
also: "be mindful that when you overly tax the wealthy they will make up for their losses one way or another, be it layoffs or raised prices for the rest of us". I'm not sure this is a proven economic principal. Sounds like Republican fear-mongering to me. Just as anecdotal evidence of my point, a lot of Nate's wealthier co-workers feel it is their duty to pay higher taxes and are ready to do so without any retaliatory measures.
Maiasaura, I do not remember which news source said that the majority of troops/veterans supported McCain but it was probably on NBC since that's what's on at our house all day long. It was on a segment about the troops overseas who were voting early.
Also, Nate's co-workers aren't the same ones I'm talking about/to: small business owners on up. (Unless I'm mistaken about who Nate's working with, his coworkers are probably not employing other people.)
Also, I don't know if it's fair to call it Republican fear-mongering -I have heard small business owners express their concern about Obama's taxes and they're not speaking politically, just honestly about what they do for a living.
bonnie, i'm tempted to continue this dialogue, but am afraid we could go back and forth forever. i'm certainly no political expert, and i can't see the future. so i don't know if barack obama's plans will be the answer for our country. all i know is that i trust him as much as i have ever trusted a politician, and that i'm very hopeful. so we'll just have to wait and see how everything goes.
