1 - This song is from The Hunger Games, which is a book I haven't read and a movie I haven't seen. But this song I could listen to forever.
2 - The public demanded more pictures of Teresa, and I will oblige them. Here she is in her "going home from the hospital" outfit. she is so big. HUGE. I can't believe I gave birth to her!
3 - We're so tired over here. And it's her fault. Lucky for her she's cute and I'm in love. But she's only nursing on one side and that's causing some problems. The little booger.
5 - When we came home from the hospital I gave Bennet a great big hug and noticed that he wasn't wearing a diaper. The little man, at the age of 2 and 1/2, has potty trained himself. He only needs a diaper for naps and bedtime and has had very few accidents. I knew he was ready but because I'd heard people say that toddlers regress when the baby comes I didn't want to stress myself out with potty training just to see it all disappear once we got home from the hospital. I suppose that could still happen, but he seems to be so proud of himself that I'm hoping it won't.
6 - We are a family of 6. I have 4 kids, 4 and under. I'm only 30 years old and I've only been married for five years. This boggles my mind.
7 - With Teresa we're doing all kinds of things we didn't do with Lydia because I was told good parents don't do those things. Now I don't give a darn what good parents do - I want to make sure my kids feel loved and not loose my mind while doing it. Therefore, for example, Teresa take about half of her naps in the swing.

Your kids are too darn adorable. Hope more sleep is in your future!
She looks good Ms. #IceCrunch.
I love the Civil Wars.
But you probably already knew that.
I love this picture of all of the kids on the couch. What a happy bunch there. :)
I think Cecilia took about 80% of her naps in her swing until she was a year old. The other 20% were in her carseat. The happy life of a 4th child!
Congratulations on your diaper-less little buddy. That is so awesome :)
That baby is massive. Adorable, also, but goodness, she's huge. I'd be in awe of her too if I was her mother. You are amazing.
I'm with you on #6. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I am not yet 24, have been married 4 years, and have 3 kids. Good grief.
Way to go Bennet! I wish my Henry would do the same. Right now when I ask him if he has to pee on the potty, he gives me a very firm NO. :(
Hope the nursing issues clear up for you soon!
Clark took almost all his naps in his swing between 0 and 3 months old and even a lot of nights he would only sleep in his swing! Now he soothes himself to sleep and stays in his crib all night long without a peep until we decide to get him out of bed in the morning. He probably wakes up around 6:00 am because sometimes we hear him talking but he just lays there and sucks his thumb until we get him (sometimes not until 8:00 am). So if you are a bad parent because Teresa sometimes naps in her swing, then we probably need DCFS called on us!
Why only nursing on one side? Is she just showing a preference? Have you tried side lying? I know you're a seasoned mom, but that position was always great for me. plus, I could semi-rest. ;)
Number six cracks me up! I love how mind blowing it all is. Though when I had my four kids under four I was 35 as I had married later. You've got lotsa people beat, lady. And you are blessed--and stressed--but the blessings will last a lifetime. Blink and you'll be wondering how your oldest is six and suddenly so much more helpful and then you'll be crying when she's done with kindergarten and you'll miss the days of only having babies. Oh, wait, that's me.
Two quick suggestions. A baby doesn't refuse to nurse on one side just because they are being contrary minded. There is a reason for it. I would suggest that perhaps her little neck and spine got a bit out of position either in utero or during delivery. Check with a someone who does cranial-sacro therapy or a chiropractor (a local lactation consultant might have some suggestions of who to call). They can really do some marvelous things (and no they don't do the sort of adjustments they do on adults, it's all very gentle). In the meantime try nursing her using the cross cradle position. Start her on her preferred side and then keep her in that position to slide her over to the other breast. That way she doesn't have to turn her head in the other direction. Just think about trying to eat turning your head to the side if you have a stiff neck on that side.
Well I'm glad we're not the only "bad parents". I seriously cared waaaaay too much about what certain people said when I was a first time mom.
Also, thanks for the tips with nursing. I hate side lying, but I'll give it a try, and while I've tried the football hold I haven't tried the cross cradle.
All of my kids have preferred the left side until they reached a certain age but Teresa is the first to just refuse to nurse off the right. Wierd.
Love the picture of all 4 kids! Bennet looks like such a big boy with his buzz cut. I thought Briar had some pretty kissable cheeks but Teresa's are just downright irrisistable! Love! :)
I feel the same way! Sam takes almost all of his naps in the swing! He is sitting up and that helps with his reflux. Oh and the no TV til they are at least 2 - Sam loves Baby Einstein. Maybe if he loved the sling, I would carry him all over with me but he hates it for now. I say whatever works!
If you do decide to have her adjusted by a Chiropractor, you should contact my brother. He is working with Dr. Kaufman now in Germantown. He has adjusted by boys many times. He adjusted Sam when he was about a month old because of his tummy issues. Although he said everything seemed pretty well aligned. I know the therapist where he used to work had the Dr. adjust her baby at the hospital because she wouldn't nurse. It turned out that her jaw was out of place. He adjusted her and she started nursing fine. Good Luck with it!
