7 quick takes

1- I know that They Might Be Giants is not everyone's cup of tea.  But an accordian + clever lyrics = my cup of tea.

2 - The reason Birdhouse in Your Soul is in my head is because of my latest post at Virtuous Planet, Virgin Mary Nitelite.  I pretty much always associate nitelites with TMBG's song.  I'm sure I'm not the only one!  Also, if you need a good reason to read the post you may be interested in how I pretty much call a bunch of people snobs.  I hope no one takes it personally.

3 - Hey!  Exciting new!  Kate Wicker is coming to the Behold Conference as one of our keynote speakers!  I was able to speak with her on the phone today and she was just wonderful.  (Of course all three of my kids woke up from their naps during the conversation, and while I was trying to speak with her and sound intelligent I was holding James and trying to keep him quiet and happy.  But she's gracious enough to overlook that.)  Anyways, it's going to be a fabulous conference and I hope you can join us on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the East Peoria Embassy Suites.

4 - Tomorrow morning we have family pictures with Travis' siblings and parents.  It'll be really nice having a new family pic since we haven't had any since Lydia was a baby.  I also look forward to some really cute pics of the kids.  I'm not too thrilled about having my fat self photographed, but maybe I can stand behind Trav or always hold James.  Maybe.

5 - I am half way through the 5th season of Lost.  I am taking suggestions for a new show to watch.

6 - I have a daughter who wants to be held.  I need to go.

7 - Have a good weekend, everyone!  God's blessing be upon you!

Suggestion for a show: Prison Break. If you like the intensity of Lost and can handle some unpleasant stuff, Prison Break is great! (having said that, I didn't finish watching the series after I had my baby and life got busier, so I can't vouch for all of it).

Suggestion for related to the "fat" comments: I don't know about you, but I've always been a carb-a-holic. About 2 weeks ago I cut out refined carbs and all wheat products (I don't read ingredient labels, but just avoid bread, pasta, etc.) I've been feeling so much better and have almost no carb cravings. I've also discovered that quinoa (a complete protein and good source of some fiber) is kinda like a nutty-flavored tiny pasta and tastes amazing with butter and parmesan cheese (a former staple in this carb-lovers diet). Don't worry about the calories/fat in the butter and cheese - they help to keep you full so you end up eating less overall.

Combining all this with 20 min of moderate exercise a day and my clothes are already fitting better and my energy & mental clarity are higher than they've been in a long time!

Sorry for the soapbox, it's just that good news always wants to be shared :) God bless you!

Sorry, me again. I just wanted to add that I still eat cookies/cakes/ice cream, etc. I just do it in the evening after dinner as a treat. Whereas it used to be a through-out the day deal. (Although now that I'm trying to avoid wheat, I guess that just leaves ice cream...and frosting. YUM) :)

I think you should watch Dexter!! It is a great show. maybe not family friendly, but a good show nonetheless. (Oh, and I saw a typo in your post on bullet point #3...should read exciting news! =) ha ha love you Bonnie!)

I second Dexter. You can get about half the seasons on netflix, and Alisha showed me websites to find the other seasons for free. Gory -- often. But such a good show!!

I just started watching a show called Homeland after Dexter (it's on showtime, and our free subscription ends next week, so I don't know how to watch it otherwise. if I find out, I'll let you know.) It's about a POW who finally comes home after 8 years but a CIA agent thinks he's been "turned". And it stars Clare Danes, who I secretly identify as my high school best friend...that's another story ;)
