story from today's MRI

Scene:  surgery prep room.  James is laying on a bed, cooing, smiling, looking at the nurses, and waving his hands.  RN and ANL (Anaesthesia Nurse Lady) talk about the upcoming procedure - an MRI for which James will need anaesthesia.

ANL:  So what's the reason for the MRI on James?

Me:  Well, he was a stillborn and he didn't have a heartbeat for 61 minutes.  So he was cooled -

ANL interrupts my explanation.

ANL:  You mean 61 seconds, which would be a minute.  You said 61 minutes, which would be an hour, but you mean 61 seconds.

Me:  No, 61 minutes.  He was born at home, and chest compressions and mouth to mouth was done for 20 minutes.  Then about 20 minutes in the ambulance and 20 minutes in the ER.  Right when they gave up and quit his heart started to beat.  It was 61 minutes.

RN and ANL look at James in disbelief.

RN, with a shocked grin: He's a miracle baby.

Me:  Yes.  So they cooled him...

I'll know the results from the MRI by the end of this week.  Little Boy Blue is such a champ - he was so well behaved for being so hungry (he couldn't eat after 3am).  Here's hoping the results are good!  Come on, Fulton Sheen!

Amen!

(I like your "ANL" title. It made me laugh to visualize the situation that you described, with her name tag saying, "Nancy, ANL")

But seriously. Seriously.

You should legally change James' name to James Fulton Linus "Miracle Baby" E.

On a serious note, we are still praying for him and your family, and that the MRI reflects the dramatic improvements he's made.

From Aunt Nita. I can imagine their disbelief in hearing the 61 minutes. If you stop and think about it all of us are amazed to think he went for 61 minutes. That would be something to have seen their expressions. They are right he is a miracel. I will anxiously awate to hear the results of the MRI. Go GET EM James!

Come on, God, through the intercession of Fulton Sheen!

Cooing and giggling has to be a good sign. It has to be.

LOVE it! Just like in the Mass readings for Advent: "Go and tell John what you have seen and heard:
the blind regain their sight,
the lame walk,
lepers are cleansed,
the deaf hear, the dead are raised,
the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.
And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me." Lk.

Praise God! Praying for good MRI results!

Thank you for the prayers!

Sarah - you're right. Just last night, as I was putting Bennet down for bed, I was praying about how God continues to be glorified by James' life.

Betsy - thank you for making that beautiful connection!

I continued to be touched by the amazing, miraculous story of James's revival to life and his ongoing journey of healing. Reading your story about the RN and ANL made me cry all over again. Through my tears I am thanking God aloud for James's life and asking for his continued healing. Bless you, Bonnie.
