Sorry for the confusion we've created

but his name is spelled Bennet.

Just one 't'.  Think of Pride and Prejudice - the heroine is Elizabeth Bennet.  One 't'.

I just wanted to clear that up since we're the ones who chose the spelling.  We had no idea that we were setting our son up for a lifetime of people adding a superfluous 't' at the end.  ;)

I think you run into this anytime a name isn't something totally old school like "John". I'll bet people slaughter your last name as well.

I have to be in the habit of spelling my last name now anytime someone is looking it up. They will invariably start with Dau instead of Dou. Eh, life right? :)

People are going to spell names wrong no matter what... I still get such spelling as Tonia or Tanja!

Forgive me if I ever misspell it! I have another friend that has a baby Bennett (with 2 t's!) It's okay, our families misspell Brennan's name all the time. It's -an, not -en.

Yeah, we're the Osborn's with an e or a u most the time (Osborne/Osbourne).

Yep...it will last forever. For me it's, "Is that Sarah with an 'h' or without?" So, I know now when I give my name to someone who doesn't know me to just spell it out right from the start. Bennet will learn to do so as well : )

People are always trying to spell Emmett with one T and/or with an I, Emmit. Argh.
