Live Simply

I encourage you to attend two upcoming events on the Eureka College campus that deal with sustainability - eating locally and organically produced food.

Congerville resident Terra Brockman, who is founder and executive director of The Land Connection, Evanston, will give a presentation on growing and eating organic foods at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27 in the Cerf Center at Eureka College. The free presentation titled "Chews Wisely: Do Good and Eat Well" will discuss benefits of organic foods, including improving personal health, environmental health and the economic health of the community.

Eureka College will host a free screening of the 2007 feature documentary “King Corn” at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 in Becker Auditorium in the Cerf Center. The film discusses U.S. corn production, including government subsidies, fertilizers and herbicides, corn-fed beef and high fructose corn syrup.

For more information on either opportunity, please check out EC's website: www.eureka.edu.

Also, a great online Catholic resource is Live Simply, a group that teaches that God calls us to live simply.
